Why did Mackintosh commit suicide? He was very conflicted in his later period. Did Walker finally say that I am their father, they are all my children, and he has not embezzled a penny. Only then did he discover that Walker was really from the island, and he killed a good man by mistake. Even when a person is about to die, his words are kind. Walker should not tell lies. He has been trying to excuse the people who hurt him until the last moment. He must love the residents of this island. It is possible that he is a strict father and cannot express his love.
