About This Novel
"The Song of the Dead Dreamer and the Gloomy Scribe" brings together the debut novel collection "The Song of the Dead Dreamer" (1986) and the subsequent "The Gloomy Scribe" (1991). It is the author's famous work of horror novels. Because of its unique style, it goes beyond the scope of genre novels. Some commentators call it "supernatural horror" and "philosophical horror". The novel mostly describes the secret things hidden in our lives. Through some weird events, it attempts to re-examine modern society, explore its weaknesses, and give us a different perspective on the connotation of life. For example, in the first chapter "hilarious", the scene is set in the living room of Dr. David Munk's house at night. He has just arrived at the prison in Norgate Town. He and his wife Leslie are chatting about a patient named John, who makes handicrafts that look like little boys.
