Public history is a historical school that emerged in the United States since the 1960s and 1970s. It has now developed into a new field of contemporary American historical research. It refers to historians using the training skills and research results of academic history, with the help of methods from other disciplines, to serve various fields of real society related to history, including government departments, companies, news media, historical sites, museums and other institutions. Public history is oriented to social needs, and the goal of its subject education is to cultivate historians who are adaptable to practical operations.
