"No One Knows Lychee Comes" is set during the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty and tells the story of a power struggle and technological exploration surrounding the tribute of litchi. Lingnan lychees were no longer offered as tribute, but instead were presented from Fuling, Bashu. A sudden order focused the attention of all parties on the small lychees. Strange people and craftsmen from all walks of life have emerged one after another. They have unique skills, but they have their own hidden agendas: Pei Jiulang, a junior official in the Ministry of Industry who is obsessed with mechanical skills, Alona, a Persian girl master who masters the secrets of the Western Regions, and Li Yun, a down-and-out prince who hides his secrets. The problem of keeping lychees fresh involves stories about desire, conspiracy and sacrifice. In the whirlpool of power, the fate of the little people drifts with the tide. The progress of technology and the brilliance of human nature are intertwined, ultimately revealing the joys and sorrows and choices of every particle in the torrent of history.
