Beauty is next to ugliness one by one comments: Notre Dame de Paris

Beauty is next to ugliness If Esmeralda is the embodiment of beauty and goodness, then Quasimodo is the embodiment of ugliness on the outside and beauty on the inside. He was a deformed child who was abandoned since he was a child. He was adopted by Frollo, the deputy archbishop of Notre Dame de Paris, and became a bell ringer when he grew up. It seemed that God brought all the troubles to him. His unknown origin and ugly appearance made him suffer humiliation and discrimination, and the cruelty of the world distorted his character. But after Esmeralda gave him a pot of life-saving water to quench his thirst, his soul woke up. When Esmeralda was hanged, he bravely rescued her. His admiration for Esmeralda is a kind of tenderness mixed with gratitude, sympathy and respect, a kind of selfless, eternal, noble and simple love, completely different from Claude's evil possessiveness, and also different from the playboy Phoebus's play-by-play. That was probably why the last whimper came out. Facing the news of Esmeralda's death, he was powerless and could only rely on his sobs to express his deep love for Esmeralda and his grief for her death. The character created by Hugo is ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside, with a disgusting and kind face. The contradictions in the image allow us to see clearly the true heart and humanity hidden under the surface.

My thoughts after reading this! Don't lower your rating by saying in the book review section that you want to write a review after reading it! It was a song coming from under the eaves of the bell tower of Notre Dame de Paris. It was desolate, weird, and had an indescribable helplessness and sadness. Yes, this was the sigh of Quasimodo, who was hunchbacked, blind, lame and deaf. The bell-ringer who silently guarded his sweetheart's door spent many nights talking to her and seemed to be hypnotizing her. The story takes place in Paris in the European Middle Ages. This is a battle between justice and evil, beauty and ugliness, purity and filth. It is a bizarre and bloody love tragedy picture, and it is also a history book from King Louis XI of France to the beggars and untouchables. She, Esmeralda, was a 16-year-old beauty who was good at singing and dancing. Because she was stolen from her home by Gypsies as a child and grew up among wandering entertainers, she was not recognized and accepted by the strict upper class society at that time. When she was robbed late at night, she was rescued by the handsome captain of the royal guard Phoebus, and she fell in love at first sight, and he was also captured by her beauty. Her loyalty to this illusory love ultimately caused her to be hurt too deeply. Not only does she have a perfect body, she also has a noble, pure and kind heart. At the critical moment when the poet Gringoire was about to be hanged by the Beggar Kingdom, she did not hesitate to save the poet by willing to marry him. When Archdeacon Claude used various despicable means to force Esmeralda to accept his love, Esmeralda would rather die than obey. When Claude gave her a choice in front of the gallows for the last time, even though she already knew that her beloved Phoebus was still alive, and she had also found her biological mother who had been separated for fifteen years. She wanted to live very much, but in the face of Claude's advances, her answer was: "The gallows doesn't disgust me as much as you do." He, Quasimodo, was an ugly monster who was hunchbacked, blind, lame, and deaf. He was first abandoned by his relatives and then the entire society, but he had a beautiful and pure heart. He guarded Esmeralda with pure love without any impurity, trying to keep her away from all harm. But in the face of powerful social prejudice, evil forces and the tricks of fate, the strong Quasimodo was eventually hit with a broken head and bleeding, and walked into another world embracing Esmeralda's cold body. Quasimodo first appeared in front of Esmeralda as Esmeralda's persecutor. He was ordered to rob Esmeralda late at night. When Quasimodo was arrested by the royal guards because of a failed robbery, and was tied to a pillar of shame under the scorching sun and whipped in public, he longed for the crowd to give him some water, but no one paid attention to him. When he was about to faint, what he didn't expect was that the person who bravely gave him water in front of everyone was the Esmeralda who had wanted to rob him. Esmeralda's repayment of kindness deeply shocked Quasimodo, who was deformed and ugly in appearance, because in his heart he also had the same strong love and feelings as other people. Later, he risked his life to rescue Esmeralda from the execution rack. However, his ugly and deformed appearance always spanned the gap that could never be crossed between him and Esmeralda. In the end, this gap could only be crossed by death, and I think that might be the only way. Claude, the vice-bishop of Notre Dame, also fell in love with the beautiful Esmeralda, but his love with Quasimodo was very different. Claude wore the sacred aura of a clergyman and was sanctimonious, but he was unable to extricate himself due to conflicts in his heart until his soul was twisted and filled with evil desire for destruction, which ultimately destroyed Esmeralda and himself. The other two featured characters are Captain Phoebus, who has a gorgeous appearance but a rotten heart. He is handsome and elegant on the outside, but vulgar and dirty inside. Drinking and swearing are his hobbies. Playing with women is his "proud" and "confident" specialty; the other is the down-and-out poet Gringoire, a guy who can abandon love, dignity and responsibility in order to survive. Hugo used his spicy and vigorous pen to express his compassion for Claude, the vice-president of Notre Dame, who was struggling under the oppression of the church, his ridicule of Captain Phoebus, who was a man of great wealth but was in ruins, and his pity for the underprivileged poet Gringoire who was living an ignoble life. Contempt, hatred for the hypocritical, cunning and cruel Louis XI, and praise and regret for Quasimodo and Esmeralda, a pair of tragic figures who are very different in appearance but kind and pure in heart, overthrow the contrast between beauty and ugliness. Let us re-examine what is beauty and what is ugliness? Under the ugly appearance, there may be a fiery and innocent heart; under the handsome and beautiful face, there may be a dirty, shameful, despicable and twisted heart. Therefore, people do not have to give up on themselves because of their innate shortcomings, let alone pursue appearance beauty excessively. Having a heart that treats others well, makes selfless contributions, cherishes life, loves life, and is full of responsibility is what everyone should have. At the same time, we must learn to cherish the feelings between people: family, friendship, love... Respect everyone around us, and don't regret it after these highlights that make life wonderful pass away. After reading this book, I thought about that magnificent scene over and over again. I wanted to imprint Quasimodo's beauty in my mind forever to fill up my superficial understanding of beauty at that time. Not original

Goodness and Beauty - Review: Notre Dame de Paris

Esmedala, the darling of a Parisian vagabond, makes a living as a street performer. She is an innocent, compassionate and helpful girl. She treats everyone from the kindness of her heart. She saved the life of the poet Gringoire who accidentally entered the beggar's kingdom; she also sent water to Quasimodo when he was being tortured, regardless of the past. She is a beautiful girl. The sensation of her appearance speaks to her beauty. But it was precisely because of her beauty that she caused herself a series of troubles. The beauty on the outside is not enough to represent anything, but the beauty on the soul is even more shocking. She has an unswerving faith in love and believes that everyone in the world treats others as sincerely as she does. Therefore, she has no doubts about her sweetheart's betrayal and does not allow others to say bad things about him. It is precisely because of her pure and flawless pursuit of pure love and a happy life that she loved Phoebus until her death, without any doubt that he would cheat and betray her. She also imagined that he would come to rescue her. Her innocence was heartbreaking. The destruction of Esmedala is an effective indictment of the brutal rule of feudalism and the evil power of the church. It also arouses people's pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty.

Review – Notre Dame de Paris

The story mainly tells the story of Quasimodo, who is extremely ugly in appearance and physically disabled but has a beautiful and pure heart. He protects the beautiful and kind-hearted Esmeralda with his pure and innocent love like protecting jewelry. This story is tragic and touching. The two masters in the story have unfortunate life experiences that are intertwined. Although they are very different in appearance, they cannot hide the innocence and kindness they share. Other characters in the novel all reveal their despicable nature. One of them is Frollo, the vice-president of Notre Dame, who is also deeply in love with Esmeralda, even earlier than Camosido. She is covered with a sacred aura and is sanctimonious, but he is ugly in his heart, full of selfish possessiveness and unparalleled desire for destruction, which ultimately destroys himself and the beautiful Esmeralda. Another mission also left a deep impression on me. He has a gorgeous appearance, but is as disgusting as Frollo on the inside. He is an ugly character. His name is Chateaubel. "Rude", "superficial" and "careful" are all words that can be used to describe him. He used extremely despicable and cruel methods to play with Esmeralda, making her infatuated and hated by her neighbors. This book describes the history and characteristics of Notre Dame de Paris with great momentum and a lot of space, and also reflects the internal corruption and corruption of the French Bourbon dynasty in the 15th century. It was under this evil force that Quasimodo was abandoned by society and was always spurned by others because of his appearance. Is appearance really so important? This is not the case. A person's appearance can explain his genetic inheritance, but it does not indicate whether he is beautiful on the inside. Just like Frollo and Chateaubel in the book, they both have a gorgeous appearance, but their hearts are contrary to their appearance. They are selfish and do things only for their own survival. Although Quasimodo is ugly in appearance, he is kind and loyal. Such people are useful to society. Unfortunately, under the strong social prejudice, Quasimodo's power is really insignificant, and in the end he has no choice but to die for his love. Frollo in the book was actually kind-hearted at first, but due to his long-term inner self-breakthrough, he was unable to extricate himself and turned into a terrible character. We people must maintain our kind nature and contribute to the entire society. Today, too many people have lost their good nature because of money and interests. This phenomenon is terrible. We must learn to control ourselves, understand what is most important, and not get carried away by fame and fortune. No matter when and where we are, we must have a kind heart. Even in this society that values money and appearance, kindness is king!

Heaven and hell are all about love

This book written by Hugo is set in Paris in 1482 and tells a story with the theme of love and willfulness. Esmeralda, a gypsy girl from Bohemia, was born beautiful, enthusiastic, kind and good at singing and dancing. She had no father or mother since she was a child, and she came to Paris with the migrating refugees. Quasimodo was a man who was born disabled and ugly. He was abandoned on the street as a child and was brought back to Notre Dame by the archbishop and became the bell ringer of Notre Dame. During the contact between the two, Esmeralda's enthusiasm and friendliness made Quasimodo, who had been abandoned since childhood, feel warm and fell in love with her. However, Esmeralda fell in love with Phoebus, the captain of the royal guard, and she sang and danced for him. What is sad is that Phoebus is wavering between Esmeralda and his fiancée Sayuri, and is extremely hypocritical. But at this time, the Archbishop of Notre Dame broke the rules and fell in love with Esmeralda. Unable to fall in love, he became hateful because of love and began a series of acts of revenge... In this story, Esmeralda is warm and kind, and Quasimodo has a sincere heart despite his ugly appearance. They are symbols of beauty. But in the face of the hypocritical Phoebus and the vicious Archbishop, where should this complicated and entangled relationship go? Everything is in this book. So friends, if you were Esmeralda, who would you choose in the end? What is the love in your heart like?
