The Afterglow of Empire: from Dunkirk
About This Novel
Lin Rui traveled through time and found that he had become Lord Arthur Stirling, a notorious aristocratic officer of the British army who was on the French battlefield in 1940. Bad news: This was the eve of the Dunkirk evacuation. The British army was defeated across the board. He was surrounded by the German armored divisions in Azhaybruck and was destined to die. Good news: I didn't dress up as an Italian army and go to North Africa and get beaten up by the natives. Even better news: His mind is loaded with a God's-eye view (RTS) of the battlefield. "I have no loyalty to the British Empire, and I have no respect for George VI." Arthur or Lin Rui straightened his tie and looked at the dense red enemy logos on the map with cold eyes. "I just don't want to die in the mud of France. If the price of living is sending these Germans to hell, or kicking that arrogant Montgomery from power... Then I have no choice but to do it." Facing the steel torrent of the German army, he straightened his tie and raised his cane. "There is an old saying in my hometown, 'Grace makes the man.' Hans, do you know that?" So, from Azhaybruck to Alamein, from Normandy to Berlin. He commanded the most brutal war with the most elegant gesture. "Turn the tank three degrees to the left. There is Jerry's ammunition rack." "Gentlemen, fix your bayonets. It's tea time." Tags: Chuan Ying / Tactical Micro Management / Darkness / Pseudo Gentleman / Imperial Elegy

A famous retreat in history, With defeat behind them and the sea in front of them, most people just want to live, but some people turn the desperate situation into a strategic chessboard. The most cruel setting of this book is to allow a "pseudo gentleman" who is greedy for life and afraid of death to load the RTS God's perspective. Lin Rui has no loyalty and just wants to survive, but the way to survive is to send the German armored division to hell. This is not a heroic epic, but a survival rule crawling out of the mud. The tank is fine-tuned three times, the bayonet is paired with afternoon tea, and the elegance is tinged with bone-chilling coldness. In the torrent of World War II, an individual was just a pawn on the chessboard, but this man in a British trench coat had to sneer: Then let the afterglow of the empire shine again.

Keywords: war, darkness, decline of empire. Travel through World War II and arrive at the famous Dunkirk moment in history. What was it like to be a notorious deserter in World War II? If a God's perspective overlooking the overall situation was loaded in the mind at this time, would the Dunkirk evacuation still be a rout that will be infamous for eternity? If you also like war literature, this book is worth reading.

A good World War II story. The protagonist travels back in time during the Dunkirk evacuation in World War II, and gets an RTS system from which he can overlook... Generally speaking, except for the exaggerated descriptions and the awkwardness, it's pretty good.

The AI is a bit polished, but it's not bad. You can see the protagonist returning to England, but it won't look that good later.
