"A Slap is Loud" is an early masterpiece by the famous writer Dong Dong. It tells the ups and downs life story of an ordinary family in the 1970s and 1980s. After experiencing family changes such as her father's disappearance, her mother's remarriage, her eldest brother's death, and her younger brother dropping out of school, Niu Hongmei's life matured prematurely and she experienced almost all social identities that a woman can experience. "A Loud Slap" is a history of the spiritual growth of a generation, describing the confusion, loss and growth of people born in the 1960s after their "spiritual father" disappeared. The novel was shortlisted for the 5th Mao Dun Literary Award. It was adapted into the TV series "Loud" and the movie "Sister's Dictionary".
