It describes the many psychological processes of a girl who moved south from Shanghai to Hong Kong with her family during the Anti-Japanese War and the Civil War between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China, and her gradual growth as time went by.

She uses a child's perspective to describe the painful past of being displaced and separated from her wife and children. Her writing is like glaze applied on ceramics, bright and vivid, and the pitted appearance of the ceramics when they are freshly baked after being forged at high temperatures is covered up underneath.
In order to escape the war, Xixi's family went south to Hong Kong and lived a life of dependence on others. Companionship is the longest confession of love. In a sense, hometown is also one's "lover". Without the presence of relatives, hometown becomes a tiny black spot on the map. Whenever I see it, my emotions will seep out from the gaps in my memory.
