About This Novel
"The Triumph of the Egg" is a collection of short stories by Sherwood Anderson. It contains 14 short stories in total. One of them, "The Egg," is particularly famous. It tells the story of an ordinary family who constantly pursues the American dream but ends in failure. Eggs in the article symbolize the destiny that cannot be competed with by people. In order for people to live a better life, my father has believed in the successful way to make a fortune from scratch since his marriage. From the beginning of running a chicken farm to later opening a restaurant in front of the station, he has been working hard. However, God's will made people unable to "conquer" even an egg in the end, and he was ridiculed for his incompetence. In the struggle between man and destiny, destiny can be said to have won a great victory. This hilarious yet poignant story is beautifully constructed and cohesive, and showcases Anderson's extraordinary skill and ingenuity. There are also many excellent works in other chapters with different themes, basically covering Anderson's main writing themes.
