Black Hair and Blue Eyes
About This Novel
An emotional portrayal of Marguerite Duras in her later years; published for the first time as a single book; a tug-of-war and erotic temptation in which love cannot be achieved. "Black Hair, Blue Eyes" is Duras's work published in 1986. It is a drama adaptation of "The Disease of Death" published in 1982. It tells the story of a tug-of-war and repeated temptations of love. It is also an emotional portrayal of Duras and her last lover Jan Andrea Steiner in her later years. The story takes place in the dark night after dusk. The beautiful day suddenly disappears like a disaster, just like Duras himself in his old age. It was at this time that they met, a raven-haired and blue-eyed woman and a desperate man, in a cafe in a seaside resort. He invites her to his room facing the sea, and a fierce and heartbreaking adventure begins, taking them to the edge of madness and death, and finally spending the last night they call love on a stage made of waves and rocks.
