The story of the third era took place in 1918. On November 11 of that year, the four-year First World War came to an end. The main plot is the three main protagonists gathered in the third part: Major Passerno, the town guard commander, editor Ash, and deserter Hu Guinao: Hu Guinao, who was originally a businessman, fled the battlefield without permission after being drafted into the army, and fled to the small town of the Electorate of Trier via Belgium. He came to Ash's newspaper because of the advertisement, and then gradually came up with the idea of taking over the newspaper; he happened to meet the major in a hotel restaurant and defrauded him in the name of patriotism. With the trust of the major, he got acquainted with the small town squire, encouraged everyone to invest in the purchase of the newspaper, and then deceived Ash into signing a contract and took the newspaper into his own hands. After his identity as a deserter was exposed, Hu Guinao used the newspaper to spread rumors and cause chaos. Finally, on the day of the chaos, he raped Mrs. Ash, murdered Ash, and kidnapped the unconscious Paseno, and finally returned to his hometown of Colma safe and sound.
