"La Traviata" is the first Western novel to be translated into Chinese. In 1898, the classical Chinese version of "La Traviata in Paris" translated by Lin Shu and others was published. In the following decades, "La Traviata" continued to sell well in China. The plot of the novel is actually not complicated.
