This book tells the story of a pair of young men and women in the transitional era who fought against feudalism, but the feudal victory was not complete. Li Xiaoqiu, the son of the magistrate of Qingjiang County, was sent to a private school in the countryside. He fell in love with Chunhua, the daughter of his husband, at first sight. Unfortunately, Chunhua had already been married to someone else. They both wanted to be together, but in the end they could not resist the oppression of feudal forces, and they broke up in pain to settle down with each other. Many years later, Chunhua, who has given birth to two sons, meets Xiaoqiu again at her parents' home, and is now the leader of the revolutionary army. Things have changed, and even the tide of reform and equality cannot liberate the years that have passed. Chunhua has mixed feelings, but she can only watch the wild geese flying north and south, unable to do anything.
