His father died due to political persecution by the Nazis, and he was forced to live in exile in Europe for many years. Zomer worked as an apprentice with a Jewish antique dealer in Paris. After the antique dealer died, he abandoned his original identity, inherited the antique dealer's passport, and then arrived in New York by ship. Like many exiles, Zomer struggled to start over. He was introduced to a hotel where exiles from all over the world gathered. He found a job in an antique shop based on the knowledge he learned while hiding in a museum, and fell in love with the fashion model Maria Fiora... But the memory of his father's murder was too deep, and the fear on the way to escape became an instinctive reaction. It was not easy to integrate into the new life. Zuo Mo, who has lost his roots, does not know where to go in this bustling city...
