About This Novel
One day in February of the lunar calendar in 1939, the early morning in Chizhuang was as usual, the dark sky was surprisingly quiet, and the cold wind of early spring was blowing like a knife. After the rooster crows over and over again, the sky gradually gets brighter, the sun shines cold light revealing her round and sad face, and the villagers start a new day of business again. As soon as Mr. Chi walked to the edge of the field with the bowl in hand, he heard all the dogs from far and near barking wildly. He subconsciously raised his head and looked forward, and was immediately frightened out of his wits - a group of people was driving over on the dirt road in front of the village, with a plaster flag waving in front of the group. Ah! Japs! The devil is coming! The Japs have entered the village! The village was full of screams, ghosts crying, wolves howling, and the villagers were hiding and fleeing like frightened birds. There were chickens and dogs jumping everywhere.
