About This Novel
Banchichi was a policeman in the Edo period who had handled countless bizarre cases in his life. Kitō Okamoto got to know Banchichi after being famous for a long time, and recorded the process of Hanchichi solving the case in detail, and compiled it into a novel for publication. Since the yamen of the Edo period would often prepare an incident book to record the beginning and end of the cases that the arresters were responsible for, people called this incident book the arrest account, so Kitou named the novel "Hanchichi arrest account".
