Isn't it a bit too self-centered and selfish?
The male protagonist's starting point is not to treat Liu sincerely but to use her to realize his research on split personality. This is a bit selfish. Every time he says that he can't understand this, he can't understand that he talks about how noble he is. He also says that his senior brother Mo's experiment is inhumane. So is it humane for you to do this? To be honest, this book is really not comparable to The Mystery and the Blur, and the first person narrative is really a bit off-putting, but after reading The Mystery and The Blur, I still want to read it.
