About This Novel
Stretching out along the coastline on the east side of the Seto Inland Sea, there are several connected towns near Iyo Beach. These small towns are collectively called Wantian. Although they are economically prosperous, they are relatively isolated. Things like witchcraft and demons are still believed by most people. There is a half-built and abandoned railway along Dongwantian. Because Wantian is surrounded by dangerous mountains and ridges, the project had to be put on hold. Legend has it that at the end of the railway is an inexhaustible supply of gold and jewelry. Wantian people have never seen the sun, and the sky above their heads is always cloudy and rainy. Summer and winter take up four-fifths of the whole year. It was summer, and the hot and humid air was filled with the noisy chirping of cicadas.
