About This Novel

This poem is called "The Moon" and was written by the famous Argentinian poet and novelist Borges to his wife Maria Kodama, who is 47 years younger than him. Maria Kodama is a Japanese-Argentinian. She met Borges when she was 12 years old. After graduating from college, she and Borges often studied Anglo-Saxon literature together. In 1986, Maria Kodama took Borges to Geneva for treatment of liver cancer, and saw Borges alone. Because they had been together for a long time, the 40-year-old Maria Kodama married the 87-year-old Borges. However, this shocking love ended in God's jealousy. Just 8 weeks after their marriage, Borges went to heaven. The enviable marriage came to an abrupt end, but the song "Moon" written by Borges to his young wife spread throughout the world.
