About This Novel
"Path to Western Learning" is the third of "Zhu Guangqian's Three Books" newly published by Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House. It talks to young people about how to learn Western language, literature and artistic ideas, absorb Western civilization, and "strive to cultivate the life and vitality of Chinese culture." Mr. Zhu Guangqian has been familiar with classical literature since he was a child. He studied abroad in college and gained insight. Western Learning has its own learning methods and goals in terms of language, literature, philosophy and thought, and at the same time maintains close communication with domestic young students. Therefore, he often tells his learning experience to young people; he actively introduces and translates foreign classic literature and aesthetic works, and writes articles to share with young people. This book is compiled around the theme of "Pathway to Western Learning", and the articles are divided into three series: "Original Origins", "Between Translation and Reading" and "Self-Made New Words". Zhu Guangqian (1897-1986), courtesy name Mengshi, was born in Tongcheng, Anhui. Famous esthetician, literary theorist, educator and translator.
