There Was a Cultivator in the Tang Dynasty
by Wei Tang
About This Novel
The ancient monk Li Xuan, in order to break the shackles of ascension, followed the guidance of heaven, proclaimed his magic power, and landed in the Jiangnan water town in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. As a mortal, he started a life practice from birth to gray hair. Here, there are no fellow immortals, no demons and ghosts, only the busy work of spring plowing and autumn harvest, the trivial daily life of firewood, rice, oil and salt, and the daily life of joys and sorrows. He worked as a shepherd boy, planted rice fields, met poor Confucian scholars, and rescued poor peasant girls. In the smoke and fire of the world, he gradually integrated into it from the initial cold-eyed observer, experienced the ties of family, friendship, and love, and witnessed the struggle and perseverance of mortals in the face of fate. When life came to an end, Li Xuan stood at the end of the years and looked back, and realized that the "experience of life" required by the way of heaven was never a formal formality, but allowed him to understand the meaning of "life" and the weight of "love" in the world of mortals, and finally achieve the supreme immortal way with a mortal heart.
