Research on the Chinese Contemporary Literature Awards System: Taking the National Novel Awards as the Core
by Wang Peng
About This Novel
This monograph is mainly based on Escarpi's "Literary Sociology", Foucault's "Archaeology of Knowledge", and Bourdieu's "Field Theory". With the attitude of "returning to the historical scene", on the basis of in-depth excavation of historical materials of awards and theoretical speculation, it extends its research horizons to the literary award activities of the entire 20th century. It not only fills many academic gaps in the study of the "historical origins" of contemporary Chinese literary awards, but also questions the existing consensus in the academic community. Theoretical errors were "corrected"; it not only conducted a panoramic examination of the establishment, evolution, and revision of the Chinese contemporary literary award system with the national novel award as its core, but also conducted a constructive study of the mutual game and ebb and flow of various forces in the literary field that were highlighted behind this change. At the same time, it also provided necessary theoretical analysis of the leading principles, aesthetic biases, and institutional flaws of the Chinese contemporary literary award that were formed as a result.
