Everyone's Little Book: the Story of Cao Xueqin
by Zhou Ruchang
About This Novel
Zhou Ruchang, a master of Red Studies, vividly tells us the life of Cao Xueqin - different from boring research and textual research, in this book, you will see a living Cao Xueqin - he has experienced the vicissitudes of the world, experienced the ups and downs of the world, once wore bright clothes and angry horses, and was also poor and desolate. There are young people who have witnessed great changes in their families, rebellious teenagers, young people who have experienced great changes again, and middle-aged people who are struggling to make a living; there are stern fathers, doting grandmothers, like-minded friends, and partners who have been lost and found. He is no longer a symbol, but like an interesting and talkative old friend who has stepped out of the book to share his story with us.

After Zhi Yan appeared in the second half, I had a better understanding of the real relationship between the novel and the author. At the same time, I was deeply moved. Personally, I prefer realistic works. Of course, there is nothing wrong with a fantasy like Journey to the West. After all, it has to have the most essential things, not pure fantasy and romance. What is the Red Mansion? Reality is the main thing, right?
