About This Novel
The novel "Returning to Hometown" is based on the clues of Zhong Ye, a Chinese "post-80s" young woman, and her newlywed husband, French young man Eric, who returned to their ancestral home in Gannan to pay homage to their grandfather Zhong Tanlin's grave, participate in the opening of the "Zhong Ancestral Hall" and the compilation of the "Zhong Family Genealogy". The 11 family letters written by Ye's grandfather Zhong Tanlin are another clue. The two clues are interspersed, showing the earth-shattering stories of the revolutionaries in southern Jiangxi in the 1920s and 1930s, who bravely sacrificed for their ideals and beliefs, as well as the rich folk customs of southern Jiangxi today. The work expresses the different understandings and thoughts of young people from China and France on the Chinese revolution; Eric's uncle and "spiritual godfather" and former East German communist Bohr's knowledge, understanding, admiration and admiration for the spiritual world of Chinese revolutionaries, as well as his thoughts on the painful lessons of Eastern European socialist countries.
