About This Novel

"The Book of the Dead" is a novel that consists of more than twenty death events and describes the cruel reality of rural China. It is an alternative among Li Ximin's creations. But it definitely does not belong to local literature in the general sense. Heizi, who lost his father at a young age, followed his mother to the foreign land of Shuiquliu Village, where he recorded with his childish eyes a strange death that happened around him, but that truly belonged to the Chinese countryside. These deaths appear as humble and unappreciated as weeds in the countryside. But in the novel, the realistic background in which they occurred makes these deaths exude thought-provoking practical and historical significance. A history of the death of ants, a chronology of the lives of ethnic groups in western Fujian. In the shadow-shrouded countryside, more than twenty scenes of real, cold, and depressing death dramas were staged before the eyes of an ignorant boy, giving an insight into the tenderness and hardness of life.

This is a novel that reflects reality. I have read a little bit of it in the reading room before and I like it very much. The King of Horror really deserves his reputation!

Death, like love, is an eternal topic for human beings. We move toward death step by step from birth, but everyone dies in a different way.
