About This Novel
Outside the village of Forgotten Starlight, a young shepherd boy lost his sheep and his flute due to a curse, and was denounced as a "disaster". Until a falling star chose him - "I am the fragment of the galaxy that can grant your deepest wishes." The shepherd boy made a contract with blood, planted star vines, and stepped into the clouds to find the legendary Fairy Zhiyun. However, he uncovered a cause and effect spanning hundreds of years: the fairy's wings rotted due to guarding the human world, and the forest guard tried to make up for his mistake by offering his heart as a sacrifice. The poison of star sand that his father had ordered to suppress was actually sealed in the shepherd boy's flute. Thorns gnaw at the ground, the souls of fireflies turn into lamp oil, and the Rainbow Bridge feeds on memories. When the shepherd boy discovers that he is the "tinker" bred by the evil thoughts of the star sand, he must make a choice - peel off the star sand and become a mortal, forgetting all tenderness and pain; or embrace divinity, at the cost of falling into the night forever, and light the last firefly for the lost on the Rainbow Bridge. This is a story about "how fairy tales grow from the cracks." There are lies and truths told by star vines, there are sheep and tombstones made of moonlight, and the brightest star sand is always born in the deepest night.
