About This Novel
"Millions of Pounds" tells the story of an adventure in London by Henry Adams, an impoverished young clerk in the United States. Two wealthy brothers in London made a bet to see how Henry would end up within a month by lending him a million-dollar note that could not be cashed. When the one-month deadline came, Henry not only did not starve to death or be arrested, but instead became a rich man and won the heart of a beautiful lady. This book reproduces the irony and humor in the master's novels with its slightly exaggerated artistic techniques, and exposes the money worship thought in society. It is an important work that cannot be ignored in Ma Twain's works.
