About This Novel

This book takes Qian Chengzhi, a survivor of the Ming Dynasty, as a starting point for his poetry creation, poetic exchanges, construction of poetry history, and writing of poetry theory, and presents the vicissitudes of experience and the melodious mood of the scholar-bureaucrats during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Focusing closely on the negotiation between "poetry" and "history" by the survivor Qian Chengzhi, it continues and expands the author's previous longitudinal research on the "tradition of poetic history". It is also an important entrance for him to enter the historical cross-section of the Southern Ming Dynasty and explore the spiritual history of the scholar-bureaucrats in the "empire in exile".
