This is a monograph that examines Pu Songling's life, "Liao Zhai" skills and reveals the multiple cultural implications of "Liao Zhai". It specifically includes three parts: the first is the textual research on the life story of Pu Songling, the author of "Liao Zhai"; the second is the textual research on the ability of "Liao Zhai"; the third is the revelation and micro-examination of the multiple cultural connotations of "Liao Zhai". Many of the textual researches in the book are unique and take a step forward based on previous research. For example, the inscriptions on Pu Songling's portrait reveal his complicated mentality in his later years; the research on Pu Songling's relationship with the Zhucheng survivor group explores the impact on his thoughts and creations; the research on the deeds of the "Jin Monk" in "Liao Zhai" points out the important historical value of the "Jin Monk" chapter in the study of the temple economy during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Previous researchers have never mentioned these aspects.
