About This Novel

Leisure is the ideal state of human existence and also the basic life pursuit of people in today's society. This book takes ancient Chinese culture as the background, and explores the ideological roots and basic characteristics of Chinese leisure culture by sorting out leisure concepts based on Confucianism and Taoism. Different from the general purely theoretical arguments or descriptions of social phenomena on leisure, this book strives to discuss leisure and literature together, especially through the analysis of prose texts, to explore the cultural implications of leisure in prose, and to explore the impact of leisure culture on prose, especially leisure prose. Due to space limitations, this book's discussion of Chinese leisure culture and leisure prose is limited to before the Tang Dynasty. In fact, leisure prose appeared in large numbers after the Tang Dynasty, especially during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. However, the concept of leisure in ancient China has been basically formed in the pre-Tang Dynasty, so we regard it as a basic part of Chinese leisure culture.
