This book uses a holistic concept to discuss Chinese poetry in the past 40 years represented by a series of generational terms such as "Misty Poetry", "Third Generation Poetry", post-70s, and post-80s, and attempts to outline the appearance and achievements of contemporary Chinese new poetry in the past 40 years. The book divides contemporary Chinese new poetry into four basic types, namely: "Following the trend and coordination: the type of intertwining between contemporary new Chinese poetry and mainstream concepts", "exploration and excavation: the type of reflection and dialogue between contemporary new Chinese poetry and mainstream concepts", "autonomy and independence: the type of contemporary new Chinese poetry returning to individual daily life and spiritual construction", "language games: the type of contemporary new Chinese poetry reshaping the ontology of poetics".
