This book introduces the theory of otherness in contemporary philosophy and criticism into the study of literary theory, pointing out that the literary subject has the duality of subjectivity and otherness. The tense interaction between subjectivity and otherness is not only the internal driving force that promotes the generation, establishment and renewal of literary subject discourse, but also the academic reason for interpreting the dilemma faced by current literary discourse, and is also the basic content of promoting the study of literary subject in the postmodern context. Interpreting the works and characters from this perspective, we will find that Jia Huan in "A Dream of Red Mansions" and Belikov in "The Man in the Trap" are typical images of the other; Jia Zhangke uses the true appearance of the film to show people's survival experience, whether in the film subject matter, presentation method or image narrative, they all have obvious other orientation.
