About This Novel

This book is a selection of poems by the Russian Silver Age poet Balmont. In his poetry creation, Balmont relentlessly pursued the sense of music and made innovations in verse structure, rhyme and rhythm, and language refinement, thus contributing to the advancement of Russian poetry. Many of Balmont's poems express the hesitation and anguish of intellectuals during the social turmoil at the turn of the two centuries. They had ideals, ambitions, and conscience, but were unable to change social reality and could only lament loneliness. The translator compiled this anthology based on Balmont's poetry themes and divided it into eight volumes. This book is the fourth in the "Poetic Russia" series.

I came to this world to watch the sun and blue sky. I came to this world to watch the sun and high mountains. I came to this world to look at the sea And the beauty of the canyon. I would like to have a panoramic view of the whole world, I am the master. I will defeat the cold oblivion in one fell swoop and ignites reverie. I discover something every moment, Singing all the time. My pain fuels my desire, Therefore I am lovable.
