Introduction to Ancient Chinese History
by Yang Kuan
About This Novel
"Introduction to Ancient Chinese History" was revised by Mr. Yang Kuan based on the first draft of the lecture notes on "Ancient Chinese History" taught at Guangdong Xingqin University in 1937. It compared and referred to various research results and was included in the seventh volume of "Ancient History". It is one of the pioneering works in the field of ancient Chinese history research. In "Introduction to Ancient Chinese History", Yang Kuan proposed the theory of differentiation of mythology, which was a development and supplement to Gu Jiegang's theory of "ancient Chinese history created layer by layer" and became an important successor to the mythology of the ancient history dialectics founded by Gu Jiegang.

This book is very useful for understanding ancient Chinese history.
This book analyzes and organizes pre-Qin Chinese mythology in chronological order. Although it is written by one family, it is very valuable for getting started with the study of Chinese mythology. Since I do not have enough understanding of mythology and folklore, I cannot evaluate the length of this book from an academic perspective. But I believe that Chinese scholars do not blindly follow their own myths and legends, but try to examine and analyze them from an objective and scientific perspective, and eliminate the false and preserve the true. This academic attitude is actually far better than that of foreign countries. Will Japan analyze their "Kojiki" and "Nihon Shoki"? Will India identify their three gods? Will Europe and the United States analyze their myths? China has grown up through constant reflection and trial and error, while many countries are just standing still.
I never knew there was research on ancient history. After reading it, I still had a lot of emotions. In the future, when you read "The Classic of Mountains and Seas", "Shangshu", "The Book of Songs", "Chu Ci", "Huainanzi" and even "Zhuangzi", you can pay attention to the mythical part. You can also understand these articles better. Especially figures like Xu You, Boyi, Hou Yi, etc., I feel I have a better understanding after reading this book. I used to think why Yao wanted to let the world surrender to such a noble Xu You. But Lord Guzhu is just a prince from a small country who can take a horse and give him advice. For Hou Yi, he thought he was the former Yi and Hou Yi, and he was also a little confused about Hou Yi seizing the summer. Of course, the conclusions in this book are not necessarily correct. You can check out a few more basic books in the future.
