About This Novel

This book narrates the whole process of "changing kings and transforming countries" in six dynasties starting from the end of Jin Dynasty, passing through the Song, Qi, Liang, and Chen Dynasties in the Southern Dynasty, and ending with Yang Sui's destruction of Chen Dynasty. It not only praises the courageous heroic spirit of the founding monarchs (Liu Yu, Xiao Daocheng, Xiao Yan, and Chen Baxian), but also condemns their insidious, selfish, and cruel practices in order to seize the throne. It not only makes bitter satires on the moderate usurpers such as Xiao Luan of Qi Dynasty, Hou Jing of Liang Dynasty, and Chen Xu of Chen Dynasty, but also exposes and criticizes Liu Jun, the lewd and incest emperor who is rare in history. In particular, this book also focuses on exposing and criticizing the debauchery and incompetence of the later masters (such as Liu Yifu, Liu Ziye, Liu Yu, Liu Yu, Xiao Zhaoye, Xiao Baojuan, and Chen Shubao), their excessive use of sycophants, bloodthirsty, pleasure-seeking, and drunkenness. It reveals that they will inevitably be deposed and killed. At the same time, the book also describes the scenes in which the concubines enjoyed luxury and the maids were brutally tortured in the corrupt palaces of feudal monarchs.
