About This Novel
In this era of rapid change, everyone is losing their hometown. Or you may see your hometown changing with each passing day, no longer what it was like in your childhood; or you may have been wandering away for many years, forgetting the local accent, and being forgotten by your hometown. The boy Xiaoman's hometown is a factory. Neighbors who are both colleagues and old friends form a small society of acquaintances full of warmth. Gossip news in the courtyard is what everyone talks about after dinner, and love after school can never escape the eyes of adults. Xiaoman, who fell in love early, could not escape his bad luck, so he could only stay in front of the girl's window, hoping to hear her voice more. When his youth and love were spent, the factory also declined during the economic transformation. Uneasy words such as laid-off and part-time job flood into the stable life, bringing about disintegration and drifting. Everything that was once familiar gradually disappeared, and my hometown collapsed. Only then did Xiaoman understand that the scariest thing was not starting to miss him, but having nowhere to miss him.
