After the Lunan Campaign ended in mid-January 1947, the entire Jiangsu and Anhui areas south of Longhai Road transitioned into a guerrilla warfare environment behind enemy lines. The main force of the Central China Field Army moved northward to Shandong. In the Third Civil Revolutionary War, the East China Field Army of the People's Liberation Army conducted a mobile warfare campaign against the Kuomintang Army from the south of Linyi to Laiwu in Shandong Province.
