About This Novel

Jack moved the suitcase to the curb, locked the door behind him, and walked around to the back of the house. However, for him, this side is the positive side. Here you can see the lonely beach beneath the crashing waves. At this moment, the tide is receding, leaving a mess of garbage on the winding beach. When he and Martha first moved to this village, the debris on the shore was mixed with bits of seaweed and dead crabs. But now the garbage on the beach is all man-made items. Scattered red plastic bottle caps are as glaring as warning lights. Jack stood on the beach, looking at the dark gray waves. Peterson, the janitor, came to say goodbye to Jack. "The children will come to pick you up, right?" He asked.
