The author Liu Xinwu's first novel, for which he won the second Mao Dun Literature Award. The novel tells a story that happened in the Bell and Drum Tower area of Beijing in the early 1980s. It shows extremely colorful scenes, tells the joys and sorrows of the city, and the fate of several generations. Traveling through the smoke and dust of the years, and looking at the moving world scenes in Liu Xinwu's works, it is like a vivid ukiyo-e that opens up the memory of the city... It can be called a modern "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" with a strong Beijing flavor.
