About This Novel

This book is a black-themed novel that tells the story of a black slave, Washington Black, and his adventures with his white master, as he searches for his roots along the way. Black, who grew up on a sugar plantation in Barbados, one day found himself assigned by his master as the personal slave of another white man. Fortunately, the new owner is a scientist and teaches him to invent new tools. However, after an unfortunate accident, Washington was suspected and misunderstood, so the new owner took him on an escape journey in an invented hot-air balloon. This journey is full of hardships and surprises. It is also an adventure in which Washington continues to find his own identity and pursue freedom. Hot air balloons, ocean fishing, England, Morocco, blacks and whites, mother and son, the desire for freedom and the confusion about identity. This adventurous journey is about the changes in time and space and the inner struggle to find one's roots.
