About This Novel

From June 1944 to March 1945, the United States used the most advanced B-29 heavy bombers at the time to launch from the Kolkata base in India and the forward airfield near Chengdu, China, to carry out long-range strategic bombing operations against Kyushu in southern Japan and the Japanese-occupied areas of Anshan and Taiwan in China. This was the "Operation Matterhorn Plan". When the plan was being planned, it was opposed by some U. S. Military figures and even some high-level national policymakers due to its "poor" expected results and high economic and political costs. However, the Joint Chiefs of Staff headed by Roosevelt insisted on implementing it despite all objections. This book narrates the historical process of the Matterhorn Project, paying particular attention to its relationship with other historical events and its impact. In efforts to "restore" historical narratives, various questions are raised and answers are sought.
