About This Novel

This book examines Britain's relations with France and Prussian Germany from the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, presenting a timely and far-sighted study. The author believes that European integration evolved from the diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between these three countries; as the war became more destructive and economic expectations continued to rise, these countries began to desperately want to survive. However, these three countries are rarely in harmonious relations at the same time. Although the whole of Europe seems to be a community, in fact, different cultural uniqueness still hinders the integration of European countries to some extent, so European integration has always been a dream. Against this background, Brexit is foreseeable and controllable. After all, these federations whose roots are the Holy Roman Empire are too close, so the European Union is still a powerful institution composed of twenty-seven countries. After Brexit, the UK will play an important role outside the EU, and what the author sees is that such "keeping a distance" will highlight the pragmatism and historical stability of the European center.
