About This Novel

In 607 AD, Emperor Suiko officially appointed Ono Meizi and others as envoys to the Sui Dynasty to visit China. Since then, under the turbulent historical background of East Asia, Japan has tried its best to absorb the advanced civilization of the mainland, overcome many difficulties, and established a unique country with a legal system. During the two hundred years of turmoil during the Asuka Period and Nara Period, Japan popularized Buddhism, formulated laws and regulations, and carried out reforms until the capital was moved to Heian-kyo. The second volume of "History of Iwanami Japan" "Asuka Nara Period" vividly depicts this period of history.
