About This Novel
This book vividly reproduces the grand history of the rise and development of the United States of America in a fictional style that Chinese people love to hear and see. The book is written from the American Revolution to the Obama era. The historical events, ups and downs of the United States, changes in scenery, interesting anecdotes, civil wars and foreign wars, behind-the-scenes secret history, etc. In the United States over the past 200 years are all gathered in the author's writing. The author graduated from the Journalism Department of Yenching University in his early years and has superb writing skills. In his writing, the complex historical events are clearly connected, and the difficult-to-grasp historical figures are vividly portrayed. It is interesting, fascinating and gripping to read. It shows how the United States grew into a superpower step by step after World War II, covering the period from President Truman's coming to power to Obama's election. During this period, the implementation of the "Marshall Plan" benefiting the whole of Europe, the opening of the Iron Curtain between the East and the West and the Cold War, the raging of McCarthyism, the raging black civil rights movement, the shadow of the Vietnam War, the implementation of the "global strategy", the rise of the information industry, the shock of the 9.11 Terrorist attacks, etc. Contemporary American history Major turning events are included in it, including Truman, McCarthy, Martin Luther King, Kennedy, John Reed, Lippman, Nixon, Bill Gates, Greenspan, Clinton, the Bushes, Obama and other famous or controversial figures in contemporary American history, all of whom appear in the book.

The overall feeling is quite disappointing, far from expectations.
Although this book is large in length, its advantages are not outstanding. Its greatest advantage is that it can be completed smoothly without ending. In my opinion, this book has the following shortcomings: 1. The author's purpose should be to present a popular American history to readers, but he uses the fictional style indiscriminately regardless of the actual situation. The reason why "Three Kingdoms" is a classic is that it has strict internal logic and close connections between Hui and Hui. However, there are many disconnections between Hui and Hui in this book. In fact, even if you don't use a novel, you can still write a popular American history. Even if you just write down every major event during the president's term, and then connect them together, it wouldn't be a bad idea. 2. The author's writing perspective is unclear. Sometimes he wants to write a macro narrative, and sometimes he wants to write about small characters, so it feels very confusing to me. 3. The author quotes large sections of official documents and private letters in the book. Sometimes such content accounts for 80% to 90% of the entire chapter in a chapter. There is also a lack of internal analysis of historical data, making it boring or even annoying to read. 4. The author's structure is not high and his views lack new ideas. After writing so much, he came to the conclusion that the United States shows no signs of decline and has no perspective to see the essence through the phenomena. All in all, this series of American novels failed as a popular reading book. The structure of the book is not good, so it is not recommended for everyone to read. It can easily confuse readers' minds.
