This manuscript contains a total of 28 papers, all of which have been published in the journal "Chinese Frontier History and Geography Research", mostly in the past two decades. The selected articles mainly discuss the policies and measures in border governance of successive governments from the Han Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. The themes revolve around the integration of ethnic groups, the formation of the Chinese nation, and the territorial unification of multi-ethnic countries. They conduct an in-depth study of the different characteristics of border governance policies in different periods and their inheritance and innovation, thereby summarizing the political, economic, cultural policies, and institutional efforts and useful explorations taken by the central governments of all generations in governing the border, handling ethnic relations, and promoting connections between the border and the mainland.
