About This Novel

This book takes as its research object the astronomical phenomena recorded in the "Twenty-Four Histories" and "Manuscript of Qing History" compiled by Zhonghua Book Company. By using modern astronomical calculation methods, the relevant celestial phenomena records in historical records, tables and astronomical records were examined one by one, mainly involving solar eclipses, lunar eclipses, lunar star alignments and other celestial phenomena. It begins with "Historical Records" and ends with "Manuscripts of Qing History", covering all periods since the beginning of historical records. Through the use of modern astronomical calculation methods, erroneous records in various histories have been discovered, and more than half of them can be verified to have their original appearance. This book contains these "testable" records and verification results. Since solar eclipses received special attention in ancient times, some chronological errors were not examined. Even correct records of solar eclipses (such as the Spring and Autumn Period) are included in this book. In addition, the book includes a small number of annotated entries.
