About This Novel

Socrates' life was turbulent. He was born in a ghetto but grew up to be a thinker and a fighter. He loved walking around barefoot in the streets of Athens, asking random questions to people and questioning taken-for-granted ideas. He cares about life and truth and what virtue is. However, this great Western thinker has always remained a mystery. In order to restore his life, the author traveled through the archaeological sites in Greece, taking us to the homes, streets, venues, and banquets of ancient Athenians, getting to know politicians, generals, merchants, and craftsmen, visiting the bustling municipal square, experiencing the prosperity and decline of Athenian democracy, and seeing the great power of freedom and wisdom.
