About This Novel
The "My Forty Years" series includes three volumes: "Forty Years and Forty People", "Forty Years of Home and Country", and "Forty Years of Experience in China". Three typical groups, namely Chinese, overseas Chinese, and foreigners in China, write their own stories about themselves and reform and opening up. They observe China's reform and opening up from a global coordinate system and reflect the great history and glorious achievements of China's reform and opening up in the past forty years with different perspectives and vivid and rich personal experiences. There are 40 characters in each volume, a total of 120 protagonists, distributed in more than 20 countries around the world, working in hundreds of different fields. Their "personal histories" constitute a flesh-and-blood "historical record" of reform and opening up. The narrators of the forty stories in "Forty Years of Home and Country" are forty overseas Chinese. They went abroad at different stages of reform and opening up to study, live, work, and start businesses overseas. They served as bridges and links between China and the world in their respective fields, and demonstrated the Chinese nation's national spirit of ceaseless struggle, self-improvement, openness and inclusiveness on the world stage. Standing at the intersection of Eastern and Western cultures and in the coordinate system of the world, they look back at the unforgettable life stories and the positive changes in personal destiny they have experienced over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, and reflect the great achievements and global influence of China's 40 years of reform and opening up with vivid and true "personal histories."
