About This Novel
"The Lonely Society" is a documentary work focusing on the frequent phenomenon of lonely death in Japanese society. Ten million people live alone, and 30,000 people are found to die alone every year... Giving rise to a new profession called "special cleaning teams." They are fully equipped and protected, and go deep into the lonely death scene filled with garbage, body fluids and maggots. The author Kumiko Kanno studies and pays attention to the phenomenon of lonely death in Japan, and follows the special clean-up team to various lonely death sites, observing their long-term work, and through interviews with the family members and landlords of the deceased, outlines the life story of the deceased, and reflects on why they fell into the marginalized group, and finally lived in a corner and died in the garbage pile in the house. This human tragedy is the consequences of missing society. The high pressure of society and fragile hearts make each of us feel alone. The shadow of dying alone actually hangs over each of us.
