"Beautiful Enemy" is Fitzgerald's second novel, which is autobiographical. Its theme and content are quite similar to "Heaven on Earth". It describes the personal growth and romantic love history of a handsome young man from a wealthy family. If "Heaven on Earth" depicts the image of the new generation that grew up after the war with unrestrained passion, bright rhythm and witty language, then the thoughts and feelings conveyed in "Beautiful Enemies" appear to be deeper, and the writing style is more solemn and steady, so the sense of tragedy is stronger. The title of the novel itself seems to hint at the painful life journey of the protagonists from the "beautiful and glitzy" indulgence to the sad ending of "injustice".
